The new Broadbeach wine and cocktail bar pouring local sips

Brucie’s moves into an established Gold Coast café space.

Oh hey Broadbeach, it’s been awhile since we’ve had the pleasure. But what a pleasure it is today thanks to the launch of a brand new gin and wine bar smack bang in the middle of Surf Parade.

It’s called Brucie’s Gin & Wine Bar and it’s named after (very good boy) Brucie, a Frenchie who will absolutely steal your heart while you sip sweet, sweet cocktails in the winter sunshine.

The newbie can be found inside an existing Broady favorite, Addiction Food and Coffee House that now becomes Brucie’s from Thursday to Sunday nights and a space offering both coffee and cocktails is our new favourite thing.

It was a dream 10 years in the making for owner Hannah Hughes who has lived the hospo life for quite some time and decided to bring a little bit of her own personal magic to the Gold Coast.

And Brucie’s it is.

The white-washed space twinkles with fairy lights and drips with greenery and there is both indoor and outdoor seating options so you can enjoy an intimate little time or people watch out in the midst of the Broadbeach nighttime scene.

The drinks menu is an impressive one, as you can imagine, with Australian spirits and wines making up the majority of tipples on offer.

The cocktail list is lengthy so there are plenty of reasons to go back for more with absolutely zero judgement from anyone.

A few favourites of ours include I’d Guava have you with gin, Pampelle Ruby Aperol, lemon and guava and it’s a sweet, refreshing sip in the prettiest of purple hues.

The Risky Sour was also a taste sensation with whiskey, cherry brandy, lime and sweetened with a hint of vanilla – bitey and delicious, this was an absolute winner.

Mint to be another goodie with fry gin, lime, mint and a housemade cucumber syrup it’s a chilled out version of the classic dry gin martini and you might want to sip a few of those.

In terms of wine and beer, it’s an all Aussie adventure with all your favourites gracing the menu, including a few unique little Pet Nat wines that we think you’ll adore. Beer lovers can slurp on Black Hops, Burleigh Brewing Co. brews from around these parts and there’s a few out of towners on there too.

Dining-wise its five-star charcuterie boards for everyone with all the delicious produce piled high on those sourced locally too.

What we’re saying is, within the one space there is coffee for your morning needs, wine and cocktails for your evening needs and charcuterie boards for your all day every day needs.

Oh and Brucie himself.

Everything you could possibly want. Head down to Broadbeach to check it out for yourself.

LOCATION: Shop 5/24 Queensland Ave, Broadbeach

Broadbeach has long been regarded as one of our wining, dining and shopping. With a number of ‘stayers’ boasting staunch followers for many moons, sprinkled with a hearty helping of shiny new eats and drinks players, nothing can dull the sparkle of this burb’s A-grade entertainer status.

Here are precisely 17 reasons why locals – and Gold Coasters far and wide – love themselves a piece of our much-loved Broady.

Social Eating House + Bar
If you’re a foodie, this is your go-to. A modern Australian sensation, Social has more hats than a Milliner’s workshop. With Executive Chef Matthew Jefferson in charge, you’ll experience a carefully curated range of bar snacks, charcuterie, and small and large share plates, all featuring the finest Australian ingredients and paired to perfection. A meal here is worth.every.cent.

The Star Gold Coast
If ever there was a reason to get a babysitter, it’s for a session at The Star. Between the live music and amazing food at the Garden Kitchen & Bar, award-winning Cantonese, Japanese and modern Australian cuisine at Uncle Su, Kiyomi, and Nineteen at The Star, authentic Italian eats at Cucina Vivo, the ultimate buffet experience at Harvest Buffet, a few bevvies at the new-look Atrium Bar and/or the Insta-fave rooftop lounge bar at Nineteen, who needs to go anywhere else?

Broadbeach Bowls Club
Nothing says a chilled GC arvo like a game of barefoot bowls with a brew in hand. Another enduring favourite amongst the local set here on the GC, Broadbeach Bowls Club never fails to deliver a feel-good time for young and old. They serve up big portions of all your go-to pub-grub meals and do a great canape package for a laid-back birthday or celebration.

Dracula’s Cabaret Restaurant
If you’re after a tried and tested, long-standing comedic cabaret, good ‘ole Dracs has been serving up frights, food and frivolity since we were all ankle-biters. Most people are sold when they hear there’s a ghost train alone, let alone the actual show (which changes every so often, so there’s always a reason to go back), banquet dinner…and shots in syringes!

Aloha Bar and Dining
This tropical hidden treasure is all fun vibes, good food and cracking good times. Popular for its hospo nights, taco Thursdays, karaoke nights, live music and pumping DJs, there’s always something going on here. The tapas always deliver the feels (bao buns…I die!!), the Cucumber and Jalapeno Margi is (too) easy to drink, and we never tire of the super cute fit-out.

Have you ever seen this place anything but bulging at the seams? Aaaand of course you haven’t. Since its pre-migration days just up the road, it’s had an army of raving fans and yes, this obvs includes us. A hop, skip and a jump from the beach, the coffee is all-time, the seasonal menus are heavenly, and they even do a Boozy Bottomless Brunch. And sold.

Blues on Broadbeach
So unlike our other listings, it may not be here 24/7 but it’s that much of a Broady icon that it would be criminal not to throw it a mention. As the name suggests, it brings us world-class blues and jazz music from locals and famous acts alike, performing across multiple venues over four unforgettable days. And it’s free, and sorry but when does that ever happen?

CHA CHA Japanese Restaurant
Gold Coasters have been CHA CHA bound for an authentic Japanese nosh-up which won’t break the bank for years, and that’s not about to change any time soon. The banquet menu is divine and every visit you’ll experience the same level of scrumptiousness. But the soy on the dim sum…it’s BYO and it’s hard to find an already affordable yet high-quality restaurant offering our 3 favourite letters. Score.

Just look for the London-esk red phone box and you know good times await. An intimate, hidden gem-adorned in graffiti and jam-packed with peeps sipping and bopping along to the sweet sounds of live DJ’s, this joint is seriously cool. The cocktail list is l.i.t, the crew are super engaging, and they’ve even been known to host things like a Wild Flower Gin Masterclass. What’s not to love?

Broadbeach scores a sweet new doughnut-slinging spot

Whoever invented doughnuts did the world a favour so big it can never be repaid.

Imagine someone just baking up a storm with their Nanna in the kitchen one morning, rolling leftover dough into shapes, dropping it into a pan and coating it in all of the sugar only to be rewarded with one of the tastiest flavour combinations ever known to man. Accidental genius (maybe).

A little while later (we did not research the timeline), icing was added, then SPRINKLES and recently, entire chocolate bars, flavour infusions, custard centres. It’s head spinning stuff.

Obviously we’re of the belief that the more doughnuts there are the better and so it brings us much happiness to report that Southport doughnut extraordinaires D Point 10 have opened up a second space in Broadbeach bringing their tasty creations to more lucky folks.

D Point 10 2.0 (that’s fun) can be found on the highway in the little precinct where Sushi Train also lives so you can grab some lunch and then some dessert and call it a very good day.

It’s a sweet little space with lots of natural light and pops of colour where you can sip Social Espresso brews while nibbling on many a variety of exceptional doughnut, which are baked fresh daily on site.

There are SO many amazing flavours to choose from starting with cinnamon and vanilla and moving on up to Nutella, jam and custard filled varieties.

Then there are flavours like Gaytime, Oreo, Ferrero and Red Velvet and they are the EXACT taste you would expect from such names and they are fluffy and perfect and we love them so much.

Oh Crème Brulee and Strawberries and Cream are winners too.

Honestly, they’re all so very good and we don’t know how they do it but the boys are slinging some of the best doughnuts on the Coast.

Do yourself a favour and get u to D Point 10 today, your tastebuds deserve a doughnut party do they not?

The Gold Coast’s sizzling new Spiegelclub now open

They say pink is the new black and that has never been more apparent than today on our sparkly (soon to be sparklier) Gold Coast shores.

A few short months ago, we announced the impending arrival of The Pink Flamingo Spiegelclub, a venue set to sizzle with sophisticated, sexy stage shows and a unique club experience right in the heart of Broadbeach.

Well, we’ve got even more exciting news Gold Coasters, the venue opens this Thursday August 22nd and there are still tickets available for opening night.

The inaugural show is called SUAVÉ and it’s a tantalizing, mind-blowing show featuring an elite cast of handpicked performers from across the globe.

The exciting new addition to the Coast’s entertainment scene will combine a thrilling mix of daring cabaret and cirque artists from every corner of the world including Russia, Mexico, USA, UK and Australia and we are absolutely here for that.

SUAVÉ is set to deliver mind-blowing acrobatics, daring aerial feats, laugh out loud comedy, unbelievable cirque acts, singing, dancing and a splash of saucy scandal, just for good measure.

So all our favourite things.

The magic will be performed on a state-of-the-art stage amongst lavish, pink-hued surrounds allowing for up close and personal viewing experiences for guests.

A 20-metre custom designed LED screen sets the backdrop for the show with artistic projection displays to delight your eyeballs. Add pulsating live beats from international musicians and DJ’s and you’ve got yourself an unmissable time.

The fun doesn’t end there though. After the show The Pink Flamingo Spiegelclub transforms into a high-end venue combining passion, music, performance and dancetomake the night one to remember.

All guests who purchase tickets to SUAVÉ are given a complimentary wristband valued at $25 per person for entry into The Club from 11pm on Friday and Saturday nights.

The Pink Flamingo Spiegelclub features decadent 1920’s Art Deco styling at every turn, the eye-popping pink velvet furnishings, geometric light fittings and splashes of metallic gold – so basically the champagne lifestyle you’ve always dreamed of, brought to life.

The venue also boasts three fully stocked bars and the exclusive ‘The Birdcage’ on Level Two. It’s very Leo Dicaprio / Great Gatsby-esque and we really hope he comes along.

Tickets range from $78 to $148 and include a complimentary grazing platter designed to share.

It’s pretty much the most exciting thing to happen to the Gold Coast since well, ever.

It’s going to be a very glittery week Gold Coasters. Get your tickets here.
